Project/Unit Mini Grant Application Spring Semester 2026
The mini grants are available to help provide materials for teaching a unit or doing a project. Applications are accepted December 1–15, 2025. Early applications will not be considered.

We support public, private and charter school K-12 teachers, counselors, and educational assistants. Once per calendar month, you can come shop for needed school supplies for free. Please bring your school ID and your own bags.
Kumu’s Cupboard is filled with school supplies, office supplies, materials for art and science projects, and student incentives.

Student Supply Backpacks
We know that you have students that arrive each year without needed supplies. We understand that the need may be greater this year due to the economic hardships currently facing many of our families. Kumu’s Cupboard will once again provide student backpacks to help with this. This year we have assembled 144 backpacks for grade ranges K-1, 2nd – 5th, and middle school/high school. The size of the backpacks and the supplies in them vary by grade level range.
How to get a backpack for your student(s)
Classroom teachers can get backpacks for one or two students in YOUR class during the first weeks of school. Counselors may request backpacks as well. If your need is greater than two backpacks, please contact Elyse Litvack at kumuscupboard@gmail.com or call 808-639-4675. Teachers and counselors requesting backpacks must be a registered shopper at Kumu’s Cupboard.
To make this process easier for you, you can either come into the store to pick up the backpack(s) or email kumuscupboard@gmail.com to reserve them. Knowing it is hard for some of you to come into the store, especially if you’ve already done your monthly shopping, we will allow a teacher to pick up backpacks for others at their school if those backpacks have been reserved in advance. Reservations will be taken beginning with the opening of your school year.

Backpacks will be available while supplies last.
Please understand that this program is not designed to increase your inventory or as something to have in case you get a student with needs. It is designed to help those students that don’t have their supplies.
